My name is Coach H. (Mrs. Hunt) and this is my sixth year as the P.E. coach here at Painted Rock Academy. I love teaching P.E. and am so excited for this upcoming school year. I have lots of fun stuff planned - some review and some new!
I have a Masters in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Physical Education. I taught 2nd grade for 4 years and have taught P.E. for 6 years. I was also a substitute teacher and enjoyed working with all of the different grade levels like I do here at Painted Rock Academy. On a personal note, I am married, have two beautiful daughters, one dog, two cats, and two guinea pigs! I love to read, hike, run 5K's, travel, watch movies, and I love the Harry Potter books and movies.
I am very excited about teaching P.E. and I have lots of fun activities planned for the students this year. Some of the things we will be learning about are locomotor skills, major muscles, nutrition, team work, and the incredible benefits of physical activity.
Some of the units we will be doing this year are lacrosse, hockey, handball, field hockey, hula hoops, parachute, tag games, relay races, components of fitness, major muscles, heart rate, and many others. Please note that all units are based on the Arizona State Standards for physical education (http://www.azed.gov/standards-practices/k-12standards/standards-physical-education/) and are appropriate for the grade level of the students.
We will also be participating in the Presidential Youth Fitness Award program and grades 3 through 8 will be testing at the beginning of the year and setting individual goals to meet for the end of the school year!
Students automatically receive 5 participation points for coming to class in appropriate clothing and shoes and participating in our P.E. activity for the day.
Please note that the students who bring a water bottle to class each week will receive extra credit for that week. I really encourage the students to stay hydrated during all physical activities.
